Louie Sam
This is one of my favourite projects from the last few months.
The story was for the Walrus, a progressive magazine from Canada. It tells the story of one of the few lynchings to occur in Canada–that of a young First Nations man named Louie Sam. Read it here. It will also give you background information on the strange costuming in these pictures.

Preliminary sketch for cover. I wanted to do this loose, almost journalistic style and I did this study to sell it to the Art Director, Brian Morgan. He kinda dug it.

I just think this looks cool. A snapshot of what remained when the top line is removed (at some point in the process).
